Long time...No Blogging

Wow!!!  Facebook memories triggered a post from nearly 6 years ago about a blog I had started and then totally forgot about it. A lot of changes have occurred in my life and so I've decided to try blogging again.

Since my last update in 2011, life has been moving at breakneck speed, including such things as being diagnosed with prostate cancer in December 2011; Prostate cancer surgery in March 2012 (I'm now 4+ years cancer free!); Selling our house in Flower Mound, Texas and moving to Abilene, Texas in October 2012; Turning the big 60 on July 3, 2016; Having to say goodbye to our 16 year old poodle - Peaches, but adding Harley, a ChiPin to our family; Surviving two job spin/merges; Not to mention watching the Dallas Cowboys jump out to an 8-1 season with a rookie QB and rookie RB and seeing a non-career politician elected as the 45th POTUS.  Plus, many celebrities, families and friends have passed on - most recently ACU graduate and Country artist Holly Dunn.

The pace here in Abilene is somewhat slower than in the big MetroMess (Dallas/Ft. Worth).  Traffic is lighter for certain...just have to watch out for the plethora of red-light runners.  Most days a 15 mile trip takes 15 minutes or less. We have many more food choices now, than when my wife and I attended ACU back in the mid-1970's.  Just wish we had an On The Border, Saltgrass Steak House and Johnny Carino's to round out the selection.

Lastly, I'm actively involved and serving as a deacon at Oldham Lane church of Christ. I love my role leading and participating in the Audio/Video ministry, teaching Bible classes and being the "Hot Dog" guy during our annual Fall Festival (we served about 920 hot dogs this year!)  If you're in town or looking for a church home, come visit us at 5409 Oldham Lane, Abilene, Tx 79602

There you have it. More random thoughts coming soon. God is great!
